I always saw myself as a business owner, but I never thought it would be in insurance. I started my career in healthcare at the age of 20. I left the field 17 years later and began my career in insurance. I took a position with an insurance company and assisted customers who called in to file home and auto claims. Shortly after, I was promoted to an adjuster for auto claims. It was at this company, that I realized that as consumers of insurance we lacked the education in the policy process. I was so intrigued about how much I didn’t know about insurance. I found myself reading entire insurance policies. All the years I’ve spent paying for insurance, I never read any of my policies. I was so disturbed by this. December of 2022, I decided that I was going to open my own insurance agency. I continued to work 40 hours and studied before and after work for 3 months to pass my test. There were so many challenges along the way, but we remained vigilant in our goals. This road has not been easy to travel, but the love we receive from our customers reminds us of why we started and why we keep growing! My main focus would be to educate my community about their policies and encourage them to read their policies. My wife and I started the process in February 2023 and officially opened our office doors in October 2023.
I network often with other business professionals. With the increasing rates in Nevada, they often request a quote. I met this woman, who had recently moved back to the Las Vegas area. She called me and I provided her with an insurance quote. The premium amount that I offered to her was not the amount she was looking for. She had taken a policy with another company, but only for liability coverage. She recently had her vehicle stolen and vandalized. I happened to be contacting her for one of her upcoming events when she told me of her current situation. I gave her my apologies for the situation and told her that I would have warned her about having liability only. Her type of vehicle is a high risk for theft and vandalism. The police located her vehicle 2 days later and she contacted me again. I provided her with one of my contacts to a body shop, who took amazing care of her. She recently thanked me for my assistance and support during her process. Everyone who comes in contact with us is treated like family.
Insurance is commission based. We only make money when we write a policy. I know what it is like to have an exceptional or a poor agent . We switched to Farmers from Progressive when we bought our first home. It was that agent who taught me what life is like when you have an exceptional agent. The customer service was phenomenal. I realized how much I dreaded calling the 800 numbers. There was always a different person and so many prompts just to get to a live person. No matter how often my policy increased, I refused to go anywhere else. I was spoiled. Farmers premium, may be higher than others, but I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for. We strive to ensure that our customers feel like their money is well spent.
